Atomization
John drove Johnny to the airport for Seattle this morning. Stephanie and I are waiting to leave for Nuremberg Germany in the next few minutes for the European Student Conference. In 48 hours, John will be on the plane to the US for World Missions Summit. Scattered once again, but somehow together. John will see Chris and Stephie Joy as well as Johnny at the WMS and in a short week, John and I will be together again. Sarah and Daryl are in Pasadena and Spokane, we will not reconnect with them till March or April or. . . .
A year ago this Christmas my Dad passed away, and his funeral was the 23rd of December. Somehow the juxtaposition of death and Christmas together, reinforces the reality of the future with Jesus. All the rushing around of today has to pass through the lens of that reality, and it helps me to shrug off the unimportant and enjoy the rest.
